DIRECTV to Carry New Chicago Sports Network

DIRECTV has announced it has signed a multi-year agreement to carry Chicago Sports Network, the new regional TV home of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls and White Sox.
The regional sports network will be added to DIRECTV satellite, U-verse, DIRECTV Stream, and DIRECTV Via Streaming on October 1, 2024, the channel’s first day it will be available.
Chicago Sports Network, which is owned jointly by the three Chicago teams and Standard Media, is replacing NBC Sports Chicago which is ceasing operations at the end of this month. DIRECTV is the first pay TV operator to commit to carrying the new regional sports network, which the satcaster noted in its press release.
“We have always prided ourselves on being a sports leader and intend to remain at the forefront,” Rod Thun, DIRECTV’s chief content officer, said in a statement. “The most important element in the media landscape today is consumer choice, and that means ensuring the most loyal fans can always connect with their favorite teams, while other homes with equally as avid interests can avoid those extra costs. CHSN and DIRECTV both believe in the unique power of local sports teams to unite the communities they call home, and we will continue collaborating with the top leagues, local franchises, and media partners to cultivate future generations of fans.”
DIRECTV says Chicago Sports Network will be available to its Choice and above subscribers in most of Illinois and Iowa and parts of Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Chicago Sports Network will also be available locally via an antenna on channel 62.2 and channel 62.3. The network has yet to make any other carriage announcements. DIRECTV will carry the RSN on channel 665 on satellite and streaming and 1741 on U-verse.
