DIRECTV’s new free ad-supported streaming service called, MyFreeDIRECTV, now has 87 channels in its lineup covering an eclectic range of topics including comedy, sports, true crime, game shows, religion, news and travel, among others.

The free service, which is available to both DIRECTV subscribers and non-DIRECTV consumers, includes both live channels and on-demand programming. You can watch the free channels by creating a DIRECTV account at DIRECTV.com and then going to the DIRECTV Stream app or this web page.

The best known of the free channels includes the ACC Digital Network, which offers live sports from the Atlantic Coast Conference; AccuWeather, the weather forecasting network; Court TV, which airs live trials and related programming; Fox Weather, another weather channel from Fox; Joel Osteen Network, which features sermons from the televangelist; Scripps News, a news channel from the news service; Yahoo! Finance, which covers the financial markets; Duck Dynasty, which includes episodes and related programming from the popular same-name hunting show on A&E; and Stadium, another channel offering live sports.

But there are also a myriad of niche channels such as:

Drool
Serves up reality shows from celebrity chefs, best-selling cookbook authors, and global culinary adventurers.

America’s Test Kitchen
The channel’s lineup features shows with chefs testing various recipes and explaining why they work.

MagellanTV Now
Named after the great explorer, the channel focuses on the intersection of history and science.

True Crime Now
The channel examines how detectives solve crimes and examines famous unsolved cases.

History & Warfare Now
The channel is devoted to explaining why nations go to war and how their commanders develop strategy.

Space Science Now (channel 4476)
The channel says it focuses on “the mysterious physics of quantum realms.” (Somebody has to do it, right?)
