TV Answer Man, Thursday Night football is back on Amazon tomorrow night. Can you watch without paying for a Prime membership? I remember something last year that there was a loophole for that. — Jamal, Sacramento, California.
Jamal, you’re right. Amazon’s Thursday Night Football returns tomorrow night (September 12) when the Buffalo Bills meet the Miami Dolphins at 8 p.m. ET. (Pregame coverage starts at 7 p.m. ET.) Fans in the Buffalo and Miami markets will be able to watch the game on local channels, but what about fans outside those markets? The game will only be available via streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video, but do you have to get a Prime membership to watch?
Answer: No.
Just like last year, you can watch the game for free on Twitch, the Amazon-owned gaming service. However, if you’ve been thinking of signing up for Prime, the membership costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year. Amazon also offers a 30-day free trial to anyone who hasn’t been a member in the last 12 months. A separate subscription to Prime Video costs $8.99 a month.
The first Thursday Night Football game (Chiefs vs. Ravens) this season was on NBC and Peacock, but Amazon will have the remaining TNF games in 2024. Tomorrow night’s Amazon opener should be a banger: The Bills led by trash talking and celebrity dating QB Josh Allen visit the freewheeling offense of the Dolphins led by left- handed QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill who finished second in the league in receptions in 2023. The Bills won their season opener on Sunday, 34-28, against the Cardinals while the Dolphins beat the Jaguars, 20-17.
Jamal, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
