The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!
DIRECTV is now offering its MySports Genre Pack for $44.99 a month to new customers for the first two months. The price is normally $64.99 a month.
Why the discount now?
TV providers sometimes reduce prices for short terms to attract new customers. But this price cut could be triggered by the recent introduction of YouTube TV’s Sports genre plan for $54.99 a month, a $10 discount from the streamer’s normal price of $64.99 a month. DIRECTV is undercutting YouTube TV by $10 a month.
What Is DIRECTV’s MySports?
MySports, a ‘skinny’ bundle designed to attract cord cutters, offers more than 25 national sports and news channels including ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, ESPN, Fox Sports, TBS, TNT, truTV, MLB Network, NFL Network and NBA TV, among others. There are also approximately 30 free sports channels from DIRECTV’s free service, MyFree DIRECTV. (You do not need a MySports subscription to watch MyFree DIRECTV.) The plan also comes with free access to ESPN’s Unlimited app.
You can add a regional sports network (RSN) to MySports for $19.99 a month in select markets. Click here to learn if a RSN is available in your market.
The DIRECTV MySports offer comes with a five-day free trial and is only available to new customers. If you don’t cancel prior to the end of the two months, you will be billed the regular rate in month three.

DIRECTV and YouTube TV think Genre Plans will revolutionize the TV industry? Your thoughts? Does anyone out there have one?
I have the DirectTV Sports Genre Plan. It’s missing local CW channel, but that’s not a major deal. My first streaming service when I cut the cord 6-7 years ago was You Tube TV. It was great until it wasn’t (they took MLB Network off; must see TV for me.) I really liked YTTV overall, would go back or try their Sports skinny bundle if they re-added MLB. But it’s been a few years now, so that’s unlikely. DTV Sports Genre saves me $15-20/month over my previous service (Hulu Live).
Good comments. The Genre plans are definitely missing channels which will just force people to switch around.
