Netflix today has raised prices on all plans, its first rate hike since January 2025.

The ads-included $7.99 a month plan will now be $8.99 a month; the Standard plan, which does not include ads, will rise from $17.99 a month to $19.99 a month. And the 4K plan, which was previously a hefty $24.99 a month, will increase by $2 more a month to $26.99.

The streamer announced the new prices at its web site.

Netflix, which has more subscribers than any other in the U.S. and worldwide, continues to roll out new original shows as well as introduce live sports including WWE wrestling, Major League Baseball, live boxing events, and a NFL doubleheader on Christmas. In the past, the company has blamed price hikes on the escalating cost of acquiring programming.

The only good news is that Netflix says existing subscribers may not see the rate increases immediately. But the new prices will eventually be added to their bills over the next few months. New subscribers must pay the new prices effective now.
