HBO Max to Add 20 New Releases This Week: The One to Watch

HBO Max this week (January 4-10, 2026) plans to add 20 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here’s the one to watch, in my humble opinion:

The Pitt – Season Two
When to Watch: January 8, 2026
What Kind of Show: Medical Drama
Who’s In It: Noah Wyle

Noah Wyle stars in this medical dramatic series about the hellish life of emergency room workers at a Pittsburgh hospital. In season one, each episode covered one hour in the 15-hour day shift and the show quickly became a streaming obsession for many viewers, particularly those who fondly remember Wyle in NBC’s ER. (R. Scott Gemmill, who won Emmys for his writing and producing ER, is The Pitt’s showrunner.) In season two, the medical staff will be pushed like never before attending multiple victims from the July 4th Pittfest shooting. (The first episode debuts January 8 with subsequent episodes every Thursday until the season finale on March 26, 2026. Season one is now available on HBO Max.)
