Why Wasn’t Sunday Night Baseball On NBC Last Night?!

TV Answer Man, I am confused. Sunday Night Baseball was supposed to be back on NBC but it was only on Peacock last night and I don’t have Peacock or want to pay a fortune to get it. Can you explain? – Tom, Deale, Maryland.
Tom, When NBC acquired the rights to Sunday Night Baseball, the network said that the games would sometimes be broadcast on both NBC affiliates and Peacock but only on the streaming service on some occasions. For last night’s St. Louis Cardinals-Detroit Tigers game at 7 p.m. ET, it was only available on Peacock and the difficult-to-watch NBC Sports Network (Only YouTube TV and Comcast, which owns NBC, carry it.)
Why? NBC was airing a NBA doubleheader starting at 7:30 p.m. ET. The Comcast-owned network has purchased the rights to a packed sports lineup and that sometimes creates conflicts. Of course, Comcast is also trying to get people to sign up for Peacock whose live sports-included plans start at $10.99 a month.
This did not sit well with baseball fans who took to social media to complain (often angrily) that Major League Baseball executives have made it impossible to watch a game.
The good news is that next Sunday’s (April 12, 2026) Cleveland Guardians-Atlanta Braves game at 7 p.m. ET will be on both NBC and Peacock.
The bad news? The next six Sundays after that will be Peacock only. More NBA games are coming, baseball fans.
Here’s the upcoming NBC/Peacock schedule for Sunday Night Baseball:
