Netflix today (December 1, 2025) added 26 new movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch (or rewatch), in my humble opinion:
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in director Martin Scorsese’s wild retelling of Jordan Belfort’s la dolce vita as a fraudulent penny stock trader in the go-go late 1980s. This is arguably DiCaprio’s greatest performance as he portrays the excessive lifestyle of his subject in a way perhaps only he could. (Yes, trust me, Leo has had some wild moments behind the curtain.) And Scorsese has never exhibited more freedom in letting his actors and their scenes go wild, all to our delight. The Wolf of Wall Street is funny, occasionally sad, and always incredibly entertaining. The great supporting cast includes Jonah Hill as Belfort’s wingman, Kyle Chandler as a FBI agent, Margot Robbie as Belfort’s wife, and Matthew McConaughey as a financial mentor with some very, very unusual advice.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
Director Quentin Tarantino’s non-linear masterpiece weaves interconnected stories of crime, wit, and dark humor as only he could. And what a cast! Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Ving Rhames, Christopher Walken…it just goes on and on. Pulp Fiction which has often been copied, even to some degree by Tarantino himself, should be in anyone’s list of the top 10 best movies ever. And if you disagree, allow me to retort!
Zero Dark Thirty (2012)
Director Kathryn Bigelow’s intense 2012 drama starring Jessica Chastain as a relentless CIA agent who hunts for the masterminds behind the 9/11 attack on America. The film was seen by some as glorifying the extralegal tactics required to obtain leads in the hunt for Osama Bin Laden. But it fairly characterizes the pain and zeal felt by the intelligence/military personnel at the time. And Chastain is riveting as a CIA case officer who can’t sit still (literally) until she finds her man. The supporting cast is equally as good with most notable performances from James Gandofini, Chris Pratt, Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, and Joel Edgerton.
