DIRECTV is bringing Christmas home early with the addition of eight Hallmark and AMC Networks’ channels to its $34.99 a month MyEntertainment Genre Pack and MyCinema mini-pack add-on. (MyEntertainment and MyCinema are only available to DIRECTV streaming customers.)

The Hallmark Channel, which was added to MyEntertainment, today is beginning its annual Countdown to Christmas event, airing nearly 80 hours of new original holiday programming. The shows and movies will include Mistletoe Murders (Oct.17), The Christmas Quest (Oct. 18), Mistletoe Memories (Oct. 19), and A Royal Christmas Reunion (Oct. 20).

DIRECTV has added Hallmark Mystery and Hallmark Family channels to the MyCinema mini-pack.

The TV provider added the following five AMC Networks to MyEntertainment: AMC, BBC America, IFC, SundanceTV, and WE TV.

AMC on November 30 will begin its annual ‘Best Christmas Ever’ programming stint, running such holiday classics as Elf, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Polar Express, and Four Christmases.

DIRECTV said AMC+, will be added to MyEntertainment in 2026 and AMC’s horror channel, Shudder, will be included next year in MyCinema.

The TV provider, which has lost at least 14 million subscribers over the last decade, hopes genre plans such as MyEntertainment and the $69.99 a month MySports package will attract cost-conscious consumers who are looking for alternatives to the traditional TV bundle.

MyEntertainment, which includes roughly 50 basic cable lifestyle and entertainment channels, is now available for $29.99 a month for the first two months. The plan also includes the Disney+/Hulu bundle with ads and HBO Max with ads at no extra cost.
