Musk Calls For Netflix Boycott
X owner and multiple entrepreneur Elon Musk has called for a boycott of Netflix after learning that one of the streamer’s children’s shows, Dead End: Paranormal Park, features a transgender character. The call, which was first made on his social media platform, has triggered a decline in Netflix’s stock and the likelihood of congressional hearings. The streaming service has stayed mum on the controversy. To learn more, see this CNBC article.
Netflix Viewers Discover ‘Sex-Filled’ Brazilian Thriller
Netflix’s original programming includes sophisticated material but rarely pushes the envelope too far. That’s why some Netflix viewers are evidently excited about stumbling upon the Brazilian thriller, Burning Betrayal (pictured above), which one reviewer says is simply “junk with sex in it.” Those who have watched it are comparing it to the notorious late night sex-filled movies that used to be so popular on Cinemax (‘Skinemax’.) Of course, you might not find the movie on your Netflix home page, but if you search for Burning Betrayal, it will find you. To learn more, see this MovieWeb article here.
Netflix Plans Two Peaky Blinders Sequels
Netflix and the BBC have green lit two sequels to the popular British crime drama, Peaky Blinders, which stars Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer),. The two shows will be set after World War II, unlike the original which takes place in the 19th Century. To learn more, see this Collider story.
Black Rabbit: How the Fictional Restaurant Came to Life
If you haven’t watched the new Netflix drama series, Black Rabbit, which stars Jason Bateman and Jude Law as star-crossed brothers who run a Manhattan restaurant, I highly recommend it. The show features several intriguing plot twists and the two stars, and Troy Kotsur (Coda), who plays a neighborhood mobster, are excellent. However, one of the uncredited stars of Black Rabbit is the restaurant itself where much of the action takes place. Netflix reveals in this article how the show producers created the fictional Black Rabbit and it’s worth a read, particularly if you’re fascinated by backstage Hollywood (like me).
Season Two of Ted Danson’s Comedy/Mystery Coming In November
Netflix’s A Man On the Inside, which stars Ted Danson as a retired professor who goes undercover in a nursing home to help a detective, is returning to the streamer for season two on November 20, 2025. The former Cheers star will be joined by his real life wife, Mary Steenburgen, as the show shifts to a university where Danson will again go undercover. To learn more, click here.
