TV Answer Man, do you know anyway to watch the NFL Sunday Ticket without having to pay all that money or signing up for a free trial? I always forget to cancel free trials!! – Belinda, Greenbelt, Maryland.
YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels have the exclusive rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket. And with new user prices starting at $276 for the entire season ($85 if you buy it by the month), I can see why you might look for an alternative way to watch the popular package of out-of-market Sunday afternoon games.
Well, there are two ways to watch the NFL Sunday Ticket without paying. One you mentioned: The seven-day free trial. As of this morning, the freebie is still available when you order, and you are a new user. However, I understand your reluctance to sign up for a free trial; many consumers forget to cancel and then they are stuck with the full price.
If you are just looking for a preview of the Sunday Ticket, there is a second alternative although it’s arguably not the most satisfying. YouTube TV and YouTube Primetime Channels offer a short preview of the Sunday Ticket every Sunday. And as far as I can tell, it’s available to new users and returning customers. (I am in the ‘returning customer’ category and it worked yesterday for me.)
The free preview is 20 minutes on YouTube TV and 15 minutes on YouTube Primetime Channels. After that, the Ticket stream will cut off if you don’t subscribe. The advantage here is that you don’t have to input a credit card number to watch the preview. You just go to the app or web site for either YouTube service, click on the Ticket window, and start watching.
Still, in my humble opinion, the seven-day free trial is clearly the better deal here because it allows you to watch an entire day of games and get six days after that to contemplate whether you want to subscribe. However, you do have to file your credit card number to get the free trial, but a free Sunday of endless football would seem to make it worthwhile. Just remember to cancel if you don’t want to pay up.
Belinda, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
