Netflix Added 45 New Shows & Movies Today – Here Are the 3 to Watch

Netflix today (September 1, 2025) added 45 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Inside Man (2006)
Inside Man, the entertaining 2006 drama (directed by Spike Lee) starring Denzel Washington as a troubled New York detective assigned to investigate a bank robbery that turns into a kidnapping. Denzel is deliciously playful as the cop and Clive Owen (pictured above) is perfect as the chief thief.  But the supporting cast is also overflowing with memorable performances including Jodie Foster as a New York political fixer and Christopher Plummer as a bank executive with a mysterious past.

La La Land (2016)
La La Land is guaranteed to lift your spirits and perhaps your feet as well. Directed by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, Babylon), the film stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone as a struggling jazz pianist and actress respectively in cold-hearted Los Angeles. However, their dreams fuel a zest for life that keeps them on their toes, literally and figuratively. A throwback to the great MGM musicals of the 1940s, La La Land is a feast for the eyes (and the soul) and was wholly worthy of its Academy Award nomination for Best Picture.

Phantom Thread (2017)
Daniel Day-Lewis stars in this Paul Thomas Anderson-directed drama as an elite fashion designer who becomes obsessed with a young waitress (Vicky Krieps), making her his model, muse and, finally, his wife. DDL is fantastic as usual portraying Reynolds Woodcock as someone whose need to control ultimately forces him to lose control of good judgment. And PTA (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood, Magnolia) shows again that he can take any genre and make it his own. A truly hypnotic portrait of excessive personality.
