HBO Max Added 69 New Shows & Movies Today – Here Are the 3 to Watch

HBO Max today (September 1, 2025) has added 69 new shows and movies. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Dog Day Afternoon (1975) 
The 1975 movie reunites The Godfather’s Al Pacino and John Cazale as real-life bank robbers whose caper goes horribly askew. Based on a real-life story, Dog Day is a showcase for two of the finest actors of their generation. Brilliant performances. And great story telling from New York auteur Sidney Lumet. Attica! Attica! Attica!

Seven (1995)
Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman star as detectives in an unnamed crime-ridden city who investigate serial murders based on the seven deadly sins. Directed by David Fincher (The Social Network, Fight Club), Seven (often referred to Se7vn), is a taut thriller that showcases both the then budding auteur’s talents as well as his impressive cast which also includes Gwyneth Paltrow as Pitt’s girlfriend. The final 15 minutes, which finally introduce the uncredited serial killer (no spoilers here), have become one of the most discussed and revered arcs in cinematic history.

Goodfellas (1990)
Martin Scorsese’s brilliant 1990 mob drama starring Ray Liotta (RIP), Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro. Ten years earlier, Scorsese made Raging Bull and it seemed improbable then that he could top such a work of art. But he did. Goodfellas has become one of those movies that you can watch over and over and never be bored.
