NFL Sunday Ticket: YouTube TV Offers Monthly Payment Plans, But Don’t Order Now!

TV Answer Man, is this a good time to order the NFL Sunday Ticket? YouTube TV now lets you pay by the month. I can handle that. – Paul, Reno, Nevada.

Paul, you’re right. YouTube TV is now allowing subscribers to pay for the 2025 NFL Sunday Ticket in 12 monthly installments of $31.50 a month. The full price is $378. If you are not a YouTube TV subscriber, you can get the Sunday Ticket on YouTube Primetime Channels by making 12 monthly installments of $40. That comes to $480 in total.

Google, which owns the two YouTube services, and the exclusive rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket, seems to be betting that more fans will subscribe if they don’t have to pay so much up front. There’s also an advantage in offering 12 monthly payments of $31.50 via YouTube TV because you must maintain a YouTube TV subscription to get the cheaper rate. That means more people might stay with YouTube TV for at least a full year.

But despite the new flexible payment plan, I would recommend that you wait before subscribing.

Why You Shouldnโ€™t Order the Sunday Ticket Now
It is true that YouTube last yearย raised the Ticketโ€™s price by $30ย roughly three weeks prior to the first week of the regular season. But the streamer last year also offered some discounts before implementing that rate hike. For example, in April 2024, YouTube TV offeredย new customers $170 offย the price of the 2024 NFL Sunday Ticket if they bundled it with a YouTube TV subscription. The promotion also included $100 off if you purchased it separately with YouTube Primetime Channels.

And it wasnโ€™t just new customers. YouTube also provided lower prices for returning customers before the $30 price increase.

So, the odds are good that you will be able toย get the Ticket for less than $378ย with the YouTube TV bundle andย less than $480ย with Primetime Channels.

Sunday Ticket: Turn Off Your Auto Renewal
This is why I also recommend youย turn your auto renewal setting offย if you subscribed last year. If you donโ€™t, YouTube at some point will charge you the current retail price and you will not be eligible to get a discount. Itโ€™s in theย terms of agreement.ย YouTube doesnโ€™t say on which day the auto renewal will happen, but trust me, it will happen.

By canceling auto renewal now, your subscription will not renew and you will have the flexibility to purchase the 2025 Sunday Ticket at a discount. Also take note that thereโ€™s no benefit in auto renewing. YouTube does not give you a discount or any other perk for staying a subscriber from one season to the next.

Paul, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe.
