Paramount Plus to Add 87 Movies In April 2025 – Here Are the 6 Best

Paramount Plus, the streaming service, plans to add 87 movies in April 2025. Here are the six best, in my humble opinion.

The Ring (2002)
The horror film directed by Gore Verbinski stars Naomi Watts as a Seattle newspaper reporter who investigates why several teenagers have died after watching a videotape. (Another good reason why videotape was replaced by discs and streaming.) The Ring is a truly scary film and Watts is perfect in the damsel in distress role when she gets a little too close to the secret behind the deaths. Debuts April 1.

Unforgiven (1992)
Directed by Clint Eastwood, Unforgiven is a haunting and thought-provoking Western masterpiece that subverts the genre’s traditional heroism and moral simplicity. The story follows the story of Eastwood’s aging gunslinger who is reluctantly drawn back into a life of violence for one last job. The film explores themes of redemption, justice, and the brutality of the human spirit. Arguably Eastwood’s greatest work on screen and behind the camera. Debuts April 1.

Gangs of New York (2002)
The Martin Scorsese-directed drama is based on the real-life war among tribal factions in New York during the Civil War. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as the son of a fallen gang leader who seeks revenge on the man (Daniel Day Lewis) who killed his father. DDL is brilliant as always as ‘Bill the Butcher’ and DiCaprio begins to show why he’s become one of the best actors of his generation. Debuts April 1.

Three Days of the Condor (1975)
The 1975 conspiratorial era drama directed by Sydney Pollock stars Robert Redford as a bookish CIA employee whose nondescript New York station crew is mysteriously gunned down by a team of assassins. Redford’s character escapes but is soon hunted by a ‘deep state’ set of rogue government agents so he kidnaps a random (and, of course, beautiful) pedestrian played by Faye Dunaway and holes away in her apartment. Pollock taps into the 70s deep-rooted distrust of all things government to deliver a suspenseful cat-and-mouse thriller with strong performances from Redford and Dunaway. Debuts April 1.

Malcolm X (1992)
Spike Lee’s evocative 1992 drama starring Denzel Washington as the 1960s civil rights leader is the director at the peak of his powers (Denzel, too.). The film chronicles the amazing life of Malcolm X from his days as a Detroit drug dealer to his transformation as a religious leader and civil rights icon. Beautiful film in more ways than one. Debuts April 1.

Moneyball (2011)
Brad Pitt stars as Oakland Athletics GM Billy Beane who uses modern analytics to assemble a playoff team on a shoestring budget. Based on Michael Lewis’ book, the movie glosses over some of the real reasons why the A’s made it to the playoffs (the team had one of the best trio of starters in the game: Tim Hudson, Barry Zito and Mark Mulder) but Pitt wins the day with a real movie star performance. You root for him from beginning to end as he schools the old school crowd. Debuts April 1.

Honorable mentions to Braveheart, Cop Land, Escape From Alcatraz, Her, Rounders, Arrival, Sunset Boulevard, and Team America: World Police.
