Netflix to Remove 36 Shows & Movies In February 2025 – Here’s 3 You Should Watch Before They Leave

Netflix this month (February 2025) plans to remove 36 TV shows and movies from its streaming lineup. Here are the three you should definitely watch before they leave, in my humble opinion:

Pearl An X-traordinary Origin Story (2022)
In this prequel to X, Mia Goth stars as an unhinged young woman whose unrelenting ambition to become a movie star leads to a bloodbath on a Texas farm in 1918. Director Ti West takes a decidedly different turn with Pearl, bathing the film with modern splashy (pun intended) colors despite the trip back in time. The result is an unsettling but riveting portrait of a psyche spiraling out of control as it seeks purpose. Pearl may be the superior film in the X trilogy (Maxxine, the third in the trilogy, opened in theaters in 2024.) with Goth delivering one of the best (and hypnotic) performances of the decade. (Martin Scorsese calls Pearl “mesmerizing” and, as usual, he is right.) Leaving February 15.

Southpaw (2015)
Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Billy ‘The Great’ Hope, an undefeated light heavyweight champion who never loses in the ring but suddenly loses everything (wife, child) outside of it. This will not go down as the best sports film of all time, but Gyllenhaal is convincing as is the superb supporting cast including Rachel McAdams as his wife and Forest Whittaker as an aging ex-fighter. Leaving February 20.

Inception (2010)
Inception, the 2010 mind-bending sci-fi drama from director Chris Nolan (Oppenheimer) which stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a thief who steals information by entering another’s mind. (Maybe why it’s not always wise to be open minded.) Great movie, but if you’re not a chess player, prepared to get lost in the plot a few times. Leaving February 28.
