The TV Answer Man – Follow me on X.
Netflix, Max, Hulu, Peacock, Paramount Plus and Amazon’s Prime Video this weekend (January 16-19, 2025) plan to add 27 new TV shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here’s the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:
Back In Action (Netflix original film)
Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz star as former CIA spies who are pulled back into espionage when their cover is blown. The comedy/action film is aptly titled for it marks Diaz’s first movie role in 10 years and Foxx recently recovered from a near-death illness. Debuts on Netflix on Friday, January 17.
Becoming Hitchcock: The Legacy of Blackmail – Max
If you love the films of director Alfred Hitchcock, this documentary is for you. The doc examines how Hitch’s 1929 film, Blackmail, offers a sneak peek at his decades-long display of intrigue and mystery in film. Rear Window, Psycho, Vertigo, North By Northwest. The iconic camera work and storytelling genius was all there years earlier in Blackmail. Debuts on Max on Thursday, January 16.
A Different Man (2024) – Max
The 2024 movie stars Sebastian Stan as a disfigured man who discovers the hard way that plastic surgery only cures surface scars. Based on a true story. Debuts on Max on Friday, January 17.
