August 26-September 1: Netflix to Add 32 New Titles – Here’s 3 to Watch

Netflix this week (August 26-September 1, 2024) plans to add 32 TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here’s the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

Untold: Sign Stealer — Netflix Documentary
Connor Stalions, the former University of Michigan staffer who was involved in the football program’s sign-stealing scandal in 2023, will tell his story publicly for the first time in this exclusive Netflix documentary. While that suggest we will get full disclosure, Netflix docs tend to give its participating subjects plenty 0f room to evade and spin. But, hopefully, we will at least get some insight on what led to the sideline hijinks that prompted the suspension of Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for three games. Debuts Tuesday, August 27.

Jaws (1975)
The big fish drama from director Steven Spielberg remains one of the tautest and most suspenseful movies ever made with outstanding performances from Roy Scheider as the town sheriff, Richard Dreyfuss and the marine biologist and Robert Shaw as the crafty boat captain. And what a great time to watch (or rewatch) the film with summer almost over. Debuts September 1.

Field of Dreams (1989)
This fantasy sports film stars Kevin Costner as a struggling Iowa farmer who’s summoned by the ghosts of the game to build a baseball field on his property. Only prime Costner (or maybe Tom Hanks) could pull this premise off, but it’s a great and tearjerking movie about baseball, family and the power of nostalgia. And you don’t have to be a baseball fan to love this sweet-hearted film. Debuts September 1.
