Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, is raising prices for both existing and new subscribers.

Effective immediately for new subscribers, the Max monthly ads-free plan will increase from $15.99 a month to $16.99 a month. The yearly ads-free plan will increase $20 a year to $169.99.

The Ultimate ads-free plan for new subscribers will increase $1 a month from $19.99 a month to $20.99 a month. The yearly Ultimate ads-free plan will increase by $10 a year to $209.99.

The Ultimate plan includes 4K and Dolby Atmos titles and streaming on four devices at the same time. The cheaper ads-free plan offers streaming on two devices at the same time and no 4K or Dolby Atmos.

Max said in a statement today that existing monthly subscribers will see price hikes from their next billing cycle on or after Thursday, July 4, 2024. Current yearly subscribers will not see an increase until renewal.

The Max with ads plan will remain the same at $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year for both new and existing subscribers.

This marks the first price increase for Max since January 2023 when it raised the price of the ads-free, no 4K plan by $1 a month to $15.99 a month.
