Amazon today (February 1) has added 57 new movies to its Prime Video lineup. Here are the four best, in my humble opinion:

Annie Hall (1977)
Woody Allen’s comedy masterpiece is based loosely on the actor/director’s romance with Diane Keaton, who plays the title character. The film, which captured the 1978 Academy Award for Best Picture, combines Woody’s comic brilliance with an insightful take on relationships and human foibles. Such a great movie and one that filmmakers have tried to replicate ever since with varying degrees of success. (Looking at you, Rob Reiner, director of When Harry Met Sally.)

Talladega Nights: The Legend of Ricky Bobby (2006)
Adam McKay’s hilarious send-up of the NASCAR circuit starring Will Ferrell as a witless but winning driver. Sacha Baron Cohen is Peter Sellers-like funny as a French driver and rival to Ferrell’s Ricky Bobby and the rest of the supporting cast includes Amy Adams, John C. Reilly and Leslie Bibb. Rev your engines and prepare to laugh.

Get Out (2017)
Daniel Kaluuya stars as a young black man who learns some scary secrets about his white girlfriend (Allison Williams) and her family when he visits their home. The Jordan Peele-directed horror/satire became an instant classic for its insightful and suspenseful take on racial paranoia (from both sides here) and miscommunication. Be prepared to laugh, think and occasionally jump out of your seat.

Basic Instinct (1992)
Directed by Paul Verhoeven, Basic Instinct is a psychological thriller that explores the dangerous allure of a hedonistic author (Sharon Stone) suspected of murder. Michael Douglas plays the investigating detective who falls headfirst in the honeypot. The film is a classic neo noir that made Stone a star and her tete a tetes with Douglas (written by crazy Joe Eszterhas) are both funny and seductive. Great f—- film, so to speak.
