Will DIRECTV Have a March Madness Multiview Channel?

TV Answer Man, do you know if DIRECTV will have a March Madness Mix channel this year? – Tony, Las Vegas.

Tony, the annual men’s college basketball tournament, better known as March Madness, begins next week with the First Four games on March 17 and 18th. In past years, DIRECTV has offered subscribers a Mix Multiview channel which displays multiple games on a single screen. So, will it do so again this year?

Answer: Yes. DIRECTV just announced that the March Madness Mix channel will display a four-box view of games on CBS, TBS, TNT and truTV during the first and second rounds, and a two-box view of CBS and TBS during the Sweet 16. However, there will be some differences in how satellite and streaming subscribers can use the feature.

The March Madness Mix channel will be available to all satellite subscribers (channel 205-1) but only Signature Pack/MySports Genre Pack streaming subscribers (channel 243) in select markets, the company says. (The TV Answer Man has asked DIRECTV for a list of the ‘select markets,’ but the company has yet to respond.)

The TV provider also says the March Madness Multiview two-box feature will not be available on satellite during the Sweet 16. DIRECTV says satellite subscribers can use the Sports Mix channel to watch those games.

In addition, DIRECTV is adding its Sports Central feature, which offers guidance on which channels are carrying which live sporting events, to the DIRECTV app, starting with iOS devices.

Tony, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!

Select markets is where they can use the national feed from NYC or LA. Didn’t work for me.
