Jan. 2: CBS, Fox, ABC, NBC, CW Adding 14 Shows Tonight: The 3 to Watch

NBC, CBS, ABC, Fox and The CW tonight (January 2, 2026) will add 14 new shows. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion. (All Times Eastern.)

Holiday Bowl: SMU vs. Arizona
Where to Watch: Fox
When to Watch: 8 p.m.
Fox tonight will air the Holiday Bowl game in San Diego between SMU and Arizona in upscaled 4K on select TV providers and in high-def on Fox network affiliates. The game will kickoff shortly after 8 p.m. ET. Seventeenth ranked Arizona (9-3) is a 1.5-point favorite to defeat unranked SMU (8-4). But ESPN’s Matchup Predictor gives SMU a 52.7 percent chance of winning.

Stumble
Where to Watch: NBC
When to Watch: 8:30 p.m.
Did you like The Office? Parks and Recreation? Then you will probably like Stumble, a mockumentary-style comedy about a cheerleading team at a West Texas junior college. The talented cast includes former SNL cast member Taran Killam as a local college football coach and Jenn Lyon as the cheerleading coach. Tonight is season one, episode six (a repeat) where Lyon’s character learns who got her fired after she was filmed partying with students. If you like it, you can catch the first six episodes of season one at Peacock. (The show debuted in November.)

Where to Watch: NBC
When to Watch: 9 p.m.
NBC correspondent Andrea Canning will regale us with the tragic tale of an Austin, Texas jeweler who was gunned down in his home. But police soon learn that robbery was not the motive and that the least obvious suspect could actually be the most obvious one. The show, titled ‘Ghosts Can’t Talk,’ includes police videos and audio recordings taken shortly after the crime.

Fox
College Football Pre-Game Show – 7:30 p.m.
College Football: Holiday Bowl (SMU vs, Arizona) 4K (with select TV providers) – 8 p.m.

The CW
Penn & Teller: Fool Us – 8 p.m.
Masters of Illusion- 9 p.m.
