Peacock Adds 64 New Shows & Movies Today: The 3 to Watch
Peacock today (January 1, 2026) added 64 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
What Kind of Movie: Black Comedy
Who’s In It: Leonard DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Margot Robbie
Leonardo DiCaprio (pictured above) stars in director Martin Scorsese’s wild retelling of Jordan Belfort’s la dolce vita as a fraudulent penny stock trader in the go-go late 1980s. This is arguably DiCaprio’s greatest performance as he portrays the excessive lifestyle of his subject in a way perhaps only he could. (Yes, trust me, Leo has had some wild moments behind the curtain.) And Scorsese has never exhibited more freedom in letting his actors and their scenes go wild, all to our delight. The Wolf of Wall Street is funny, occasionally sad, and always incredibly entertaining. The great supporting cast includes Jonah Hill as Belfort’s wingman, Kyle Chandler as a FBI agent, Margot Robbie as Belfort’s wife, and Matthew McConaughey as a financial mentor with some very, very unusual advice.
The Shining (1980)
What Kind of Movie: Horror
Who’s In It: Jack Nicholson, Shelley Duvall
The chilling horror film from director Stanley Kubrick stars Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall as a dysfunctional couple who decide to caretake a remote resort while it’s closed during the winter. While we say The Shining is a horror film (and it has plenty of jump scares), it’s also a brilliant dark comedy thanks to Nicholson’s tour de force performance as Jack Torrance, a frustrated writer who truly understands that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Duvall is also convincing as the tortured (perhaps on and off the set) wife and little Danny Lloyd is a delight as their son.
Mad Max (1979)
What Kind of Movie: Apocalyptic Drama
Who’s In It: Mel Gibson
Mel Gibson stars as a police officer forced to enter survival mode when society becomes lawless due to shortages of critical resources. The movie made Mel a star but don’t forget director George Miller’s visionary storytelling and flawless scene staging. Classic work.
