ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and The CW tonight (December 24, 2025) will add 15 new shows and episodes. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Home Alone (1990)
Where to Watch: ABC
When to Watch: 8 p.m. ET

Macaulay Culkin stars as Kevin, a mischievous 8-year-old tot who’s accidentally left at home while the family travels to Paris for Christmas. While ‘home alone,’ Kevin discovers the dangers of after shave and microwave cooking while foiling two hapless burglars (Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern) who plan to raid the house. Home Alone, which also stars the great Katherine O’Hara as the forgetful Mom and John Candy in a hysterical cameo as a Polka musician, is a wonderful Christmas Eve movie for the entire family. It’s both funny and relatable; kudos to Chris Columbus who directed and the late John Hughes who wrote and produced it.

It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
Where to Watch: NBC
When to Watch: 8 p.m. ET

And if there’s a better Christmas Eve film selection, this is it. It’s a Wonderful Life stars Jimmy Stewart as a troubled bank employee who discovers the holiday’s true meaning when a ghost named Clarence (Henry Travers) shows him how empty the world would be if he had never lived. Stewart is ‘wonderful’ in the Everyman role; you feel his despair as he contemplates whether life is worth living and his elation when he finally realizes it is. Few actors, if any, could have handled the role so well; he’s why watching (and rewatching) It’s a Wonderful Life has become a Christmas tradition.

Christmas Eve Mass
Where to Watch: NBC
When to Watch: 11:35 p.m. ET

Regardless of your religious persuasion, the annual Christmas Eve Mass from the Vatican basilica is a sight to behold. And this year will mark the first time that Chicago-bred (and White Sox fan) Pope Leo will perform the ceremony.
