HBO Max to Add 15 New Releases This Week – Here Are the 2 to Watch

HBO Max this week (December 14-20, 2025) will add 15 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the two to watch, in my humble opinion:

One Battle After Another
Release Date: Friday, December 19
Leonardo DiCaprio (pictured above) stars in this Paul Thomas Anderson-directed action/comedy about a former revolutionary in hiding who goes on the run when a crazed military officer (Sean Penn) hunts him down. The film, which is likely to receive numerous Oscar nominations, is a showcase for the many talents of Anderson (Boogie Nights, Magnolia) as well as DiCaprio who adds a sophisticated comedic touch to his arsenal of skills. The great supporting cast also includes Benicio del Toro, Chase Infiniti as Leo’s daughter, Alana Haim (Licorice Pizza) and Regina Hall.

 

The Bold Type (Seasons 1-5)
Release Date: Monday, December 15
A young Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus, Drop) shines in this Freeform comedy/drama about three women who juggle romance and careers while working for a high-profile women’s magazine. Rotten Tomatoes gave the first season a score of 97 out of 100, saying it’s “smart, hip, and exuberantly performed. The Bold Type sharply performed blends its soapy plotting with workplace drama that feels very of-the-moment.”
