Netflix to Add 21 New Releases This Week – Here Are the 3 to Watch

Netflix this week (December 7-13, 2025) will add 21 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
Release Date: Friday, December 12
Daniel Craig is back as the determined detective, Benoit Blanc, in this third installment of the Netflix original Knives Out mystery series. In Wake Up Dead Man, Blanc investigates the stabbing death of a headstrong priest (Josh Brolin) with the assistance of the main suspect! If you didn’t see the first two Knives Out movies, I would encourage you to do so; they are sheer fun with delightful, sometimes over-the-top, performances from the stars including Craig. (The first two films are still on Netflix.) But if you just want to watch number three, Wake Up Dead Man is a standalone sequel; you don’t need to know the facts of the previous two to enjoy this one. So, enjoy! The talent-packed ensemble cast also includes Josh O’Connor, Glenn Close, Jeffrey Wright, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner and Kerry Washington.

Babylon (2022)
Release Date: Sunday, December 7
Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt star in this sensational epic drama on the silent film industry in the 1920s and the difficulties that some actors faced making the transition to sound. Directed with great panache by Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, La La Land), Babylon’s greater thesis is that Hollywood, in any era, can be a cruel mistress, quick to seduce but impossible to love. Through the eyes of Robbie and Pitt, the film explores how industry execs and their minions manufacture and manipulate their stars only to cut them loose when their appeal begins to wane. For Chazelle, still a relatively young director at 40 (then 37), it was a bold statement and perhaps one that has set back his career; he hasn’t made a film since. And that is a terrible shame. Babylon is a dazzling 189 minutes (feels like 89 minutes, it moves so fast) overflowing with memorable images and incredible acting, particularly from Robbie and Pitt who put vanity on the shelf for this one. It’s a beautiful film and one I can’t recommend more highly.

The West Wing (Seasons one to seven)
Release Date: Tuesday, December 9
Martin Sheen stars as the American president in this seminal NBC series that ran seven seasons from 1999 to 2006. The show, which was created by Aaron Sorkin (who wrote the first four seasons), delivers a behind-the-scenes depiction of the people and politics that shape our lives. While The West Wing careened off the rails a bit after Sorkin’s departure, it’s still an addictive treat for anyone who loves politics. The supporting cast includes Rob Lowe, Allison Janney, Bradley Whitford, John Spender and Richard Schiff.
