Amazon’s Prime Video to Remove 50 Movies In 6 Days – Here Are the 3 to Watch

Albert Finney and Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich.

Amazon’s Prime Video plans to remove 50 movies from its streaming lineup on December 1, 2025. Here are the three to watch (or rewatch) before they leave, in my humble opinion:

Nightcrawler (2014)
Jake Gyllenhaal stars as a psychotic photographer who films (and eventually stages) late night bloody crime scenes so he can sell them to local news stations. Rene Russo is a station producer so hungry for ratings that she ignores evidence of Gyllenhaal’s ethical (and criminal lapses) so she can put them on the air. Nightcrawler is a terrific, and sometimes terrifying, commentary on ambition and journalistic corruption with great performances from Gyllenhaal and Russo. (And whatever happened to her!)

Erin Brockovich (2000) – Pictured above.
The 2000 drama from director Steven Soderbergh stars Julia Roberts at her peak as the real-life environmental activist. While Julia took home most of the awards — Best Actress at the Academy Awards — the film isn’t the same without a Lou Grant-like turn by Albert Finney as Ed Masry, Erin’s attorney and partner in her legal crusade. Finney is great and so is the direction by Soderbergh although you wouldn’t expect anything less from him. This is a movie that has you rooting for the main character from beginning to end. Inspiring. Entertaining. And fun.

Burn After Reading (2008)
The Coen Bros. screwball comedy/drama stars Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand as amateur espionage traders with fun supporting performances from George Clooney, John Malkovich and Richard Jenkins. While this is not the best Coen, better than average Coen is better than most anything else.
