NFL Sunday Ticket Suffers Technical Glitches – Will There Be Refunds?

TV Answer Man, do you know anything about the NFL Sunday Ticket screwing up yesterday? We couldn’t watch a single game for about an hour! Are they giving us a credit or refund? – Mark, New Bern, North Carolina.

Mark, you were not alone. Numerous NFL Sunday Ticket subscribers took to social media early yesterday afternoon to complain that they were greeted with blank screens when they tried to stream in to a specific game.

“The only thing I want NFL Sunday Ticket to do is work, @YouTube. We only get 17 weeks of day games. It’s clearly on the fritz for everyone, so please fix it,” wrote the ‘The Lawyer Craig’ on X.

“We better get some compensation for sunday ticket not working during games are being broadcast, the amount we pay for this to happen is unacceptable,” added another angry user.

Below, one Sunday Ticket customer provided a video illustration of the issue:

It’s unclear how many subscribers were affected, but it seems that fans using Apple iOS devices suffered the most. (Although users of other devices also posted complaints.) And at 3:44 p.m. ET, YouTube’s customer support team on X said the issue had been resolved.

“You should be able to access NFL Sunday Ticket on the YouTube iOS mobile app again, just give your app a restart. Thanks for hanging tight while we worked on it” the customer support team posted.

There is no indication that YouTube will offer a credit for fans who were affected by the technical glitches. And that should be no surprise. When the Sunday Ticket was marred by widespread technical snafus in 2023, YouTube said there would be no refunds or credits.

To YouTube’s credit, so to speak, the streamer has suffered relatively few technical problems since taking over the Sunday Ticket rights from DIRECTV starting with the 2023 season.

Hi, Phil,
The Sunday Ticket blank screens and endless buffering never was fixed yesterday, even through the late games. In my case, my LG and Samsung TV’s never worked properly, but I was able to watch games with minimal problem on my iMac. This problem seemed widespread, but random! Do we have no recourse to get any refund? Their pricing for return customers is already way too high and, after having to fight with them for small discounts, now we can’t even watch the games!
