HBO Max to Add 12 New Shows & Movies This Week – Here Are the 3 to Watch

HBO Max this week (September 7-13, 2025) plans to add 12 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Task (HBO Original)
Release Date: Sunday, September 7
Mark Ruffalo stars as a FBI agent who’s assigned to head a task force to combat a series of high-profile robberies engineered by what seems like a lowly garbage collector (Tom Pelphrey). The cat-and-mouse seven-episode series, which is already collecting rave reviews, is being compared to HBO’s Mare of Easttown (which stars Kate Winslet), no surprise because Mare’s Brad Ingelsby is the showrunner here, too.

Warfare (2025)
Release Date: Friday, September 12
Alex Garland and Ray Mendoza co-direct this intense war drama based on a real-life Navy Seal expedition in Iraq in 2006 that went south when the team was surrounded by insurgents. I haven’t seen the movie, but the reviews have been glowing with the BBC writing it’s “a masterful technical achievement that is, more important, emotionally harrowing.” (Co-director Mendoza served in Iraq and the film is based on his experiences.)

Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa, Season 3B (HGTV)
Release Date: Thursday, September 11
By now, I half expect Tarek El Moussa and his former partner-in-grime, Christina Haack, to do a show called, ‘Flipping Spouses.’ These two change marriage partners so often that they should get a volume discount at the church.) But instead we get season three B of Tarek’s Flipping 101. (Okay, I’m not really recommending the show, but I couldn’t resist using it for the cheap joke.)
