DIRECTV today plans to add three new NBC channels to MyFree DIRECTV, the TV provider’s free ads-supported streaming service.
The NBC channels are Dateline 24/7, based on the network’s true crime show; NBC News NOW, a live news channel; and Today All Day, which offers segments from the network’s morning program. A DIRECTV spokesman said the trio should launch mid-day on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
DIRECTV last April added eight free NBC channels. See our article here for details.
The DIRECTV spokesman said two more free channels are coming on Monday, August 25, from Fox including the Fox Sports free ads-supported service and The Masked Singer, a channel devoted to the network’s competition show. (The Fox Sports free channel is different from the pay TV FS1; it does not offer the live feeds of pro sports such as MLB and the NFL. It features studio shows, documentaries and podcasts.)
DIRECTV on August 25 will also add four free channels from Warner Bros. Discovery: the paranormal channel, Ghosts Are Real; the innovation channel, How To; true crime’s I (Almost) Got Away It; and the foodie channel, Sweet Escapes.
What Is MyFree DIRECTV?
MyFree DIRECTV, which started with 70 channels in November 2024, now has more than 110 channels and is expected to add more channels in the coming weeks and months. DIRECTV is hoping that MyFree DIRECTV will generate additional advertising revenue as well as attract potential customers who might subscribe after coming to its site/app.
Who Can Watch DIRECTV’s Free Service?
MyFree DIRECTV is available to both DIRECTV subscribers and non-DIRECTV consumers and includes both live channels and on-demand programming. You can watch the free channels by creating a DIRECTV account at DIRECTV.com and then going to the DIRECTV Stream app or this web page.
