Live streamer Fubo said today that it will launch a sports ‘skinny bundle’ in the coming weeks.
No word on pricing or lineup yet but Fubo said in a letter to shareholders that “we are dedicated to offering consumers a variety of content options at reasonable prices. The commitment is highlighted by the launch of Fubo Sports in which we aim to bring to market a focused service at an attractive price point. We expect to launch Fubo Sports in the coming weeks.”
The announcement was made following the release of Fubo’s second quarter financial report in which it said it lost a net of 110,000 subscribers during the three months. Fubo’s two programming bundles (Pro and Elite with Sports Plus) now cost $84.99 and $104.99 a month
The Fubo sports bundle would follow a similar sports-specific one from DIRECTV called MySports which costs $69.99 a month for roughly 25 channels including the major national sports networks. The TV providers are hopeful that less expensive genre plans will appeal to cord cutters who have shifted to cheaper streaming offerings from companies such as Netflix and HBO Max.
Fubo now has 1,36 million subscribers in North America and 349,000 elsewhere.
