Netflix plans to remove 33 movies and TV shows this month (August 2024). Here’s the three you should watch before they leave, in my humble opinion:

American Hustle (2013)
David O. Russell’s brilliant 2013 comedy-drama based on the real-life FBI Abscam sting operation in the 1970s. Christian Bale and Amy Adams star as two con artists who are forced by an FBI agent (Bradley Cooper) to help the agency set up corrupt politicians, including the mayor of Camden, New Jersey, played by Jeremy Renner. The film is a dazzling display of human folly and Russell has never been better. The great cast also includes Jennifer Lawrence, Jack Huston and Robert DeNiro. Leaving August 31.

Burn After Reading (2008)
The Coen Bros. screwball comedy/drama stars Brad Pitt and Frances McDormand as amateur espionage traders with fun supporting performances from George Clooney, John Malkovich and Richard Jenkins. While this is not the best Coen, better than average Coen is better than most anything else. Leaving August 31.

The Nutty Professor (1996)
Eddie Murphy’s 1996 homage to the original Jerry Lewis 1963 masterpiece with the former playing multiple roles including a meek scientist who discovers a formula that turns him into a testosterone-fueled ladies’ man. Eddie should have won an Oscar nom for this, but that’s another story for another day. Leaving August 31.

Also check out three Spider-man movies, Total Recall with Arnold Schwarzenegger and The Accountant with Ben Affleck.
