Amazon’s Prime Video this month (July 2025) plans to add 107 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Heads of State (2025) – Amazon Original Movie
Release Date: Wednesday, July 2
John Cena and Idris Elba star as a U.S. president and United Kingdom prime minister who must jettison their bitter rivalry and team up to combat an international terrorist group in this action comedy. The two actors co-starred in 2021’s Suicide Squad and they are both adept at action. Now let’s see if they can handle the yuks as well.

Ballard – Amazon Original Series
Release Date: July 9

Maggie Q plays Renee Ballard, a cold case detective, in Amazon’s latest spinoff from the Bosch (pictured above) detective series. The 10-episode show, which follows Ballard as she investigates a Los Angeles police conspiracy, will also feature Bosch (Titus Welliver) himself who pauses his retirement to aid the case.

One Night In Idaho: The College Murders
Release Date: July 11

The Amazon original documentary investigates the brutal murder of four college students in Idaho in 2022. How did it happen and what does it say about our society today? The doc, based on a true crime book written by James Patterson and Vicky Ward, will include interviews with the victims’ parents.
