Will 2025 Wimbledon Be In 4K? How About the British Open In 4K?

The TV Answer Man – Follow me on X.
TV Answer Man, there doesn’t seem to be much in 4K these days, even upscaled 4K. Do you know if Wimbledon will be in 4K? How about the British Open? – Gene, Pittsburgh.
Gene, I feel your pain. Most live sporting events are not available in 4K. Despite 4K TVs being in a majority of American homes, the networks refuse to invest in the cameras and TV production facilities to transmit their broadcasts in the format.
As for this year’s Wimbledon, which runs from June 23 through July 13, the year’s top tennis tournament will not be available in 4K in the United States. If you want to watch it in 4K, I would recommend booking a flight to Europe where it will be available in 4K.
But the British Open golf tournament, which will take place from July 17 through July 20, will be available in 4K on DIRECTV, the TV provider announced yesterday. There may be additional providers so check your on-screen guide for more information.
Gene, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
