Sling TV: The Best Streaming Service for Live Sports In 4K In 2025

Sling TV last year began offering live sports in 4K, nine years after the multi-channel live streaming service first launched and seven years after Fubo became the first streamer to provide live sports in 4K. (DIRECTV Stream and YouTube TV now also have live sports in 4K.)

However, despite the long wait, Sling is now the best live streaming service for fans who want to watch sports in 4K. (If you live in one of the 16 markets where it’s now offered. See list below.)

Why do I say that?

Sling TV’s Blue Plan: Affordable Fox Sports In 4K
Sling TV’s Blue package, which includes more than 40 channels, including Fox, is available for just $45.99 a month. That means you can watch Fox’s upscaled 4K broadcasts of college football and basketball and other sports, for roughly half the price as Fubo (Fubo’s 4K packages start at $94.99 a month.) and DIRECTV Stream (packages start at $86.99 a month.) YouTube TV’s base plans start at $82.99 a month and it costs an extra $9.99 to include the 4K add-on package.

Sling TV’s Orange Plan: Affordable ESPN In 4K
The Blue plan does not include ESPN, which offers college football and basketball in 4K, because the sports network is in the Sling Orange plan. However, you can get both Blue and Orange for $60.99 a month which is still considerably less than the other live streamers.

The Catch: Sling TV’s 4K Availability
Now, there is a caveat to this argument. Sling TV’s 4K service is only available in the following markets:

Atlanta
Austin/Houston
Chicago
Dallas
Detroit
Los Angeles
Milwaukee
Minneapolis
New York
Orlando
Oakland
Philadelphia
Phoenix
San Francisco
Seattle
Washington, D.C.

But if you live in one of those 16 markets, the price is right if you’re a 4K enthusiast.

What Does Sling TV’s Price Matter to 4K Owners?
Sling TV’s relatively easy entree to live 4K programming is a godsend for 4K owners who normally have to pay premium prices to watch anything in the format. Netflix, for example, recently raised its 4K package to $24.99 a month, three times the cost of its cheapest plan ($7.99 a month ads-included Standard plan.) For a 4K TV owner, who likely shelled out more than a $1,000 for his set, it’s nice to save a few bucks to watch something that’s actually in 4K.
