Netflix Added 35 New Shows & Movies Today – Here Are the 4 Best

Netflix today (January 1, 2025) has added 35 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the four best, in my humble opinion:

Inception (2010)
Inception, the 2010 mind-bending sci-fi drama from director Chris Nolan (Oppenheimer) which stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a thief who steals information by entering another’s mind. (Maybe why it’s not always wise to be open minded.) Great movie, but if you’re not a chess player, prepared to get lost in the plot a few times.

Interstellar (2014)
Chris Nolan (again) directs this sci-fi classic starring Matthew McConaughey as an astronaut who travels through a wormhole in search of a new land to replace a dying Earth. While the film is rooted in science and space exploration, Nolan displays a soft touch as well by inserting a welcomed subplot of the astronaut’s relationship with his daughter, played as an adult by Jessica Chastain. The connection between the two serves as the fuel he needs to persist in spite of the mission’s dangers and it makes the film something more than typical sci-fi fare. 

Schindler’s List (1993)
Director Steven Spielberg’s poignant Holocaust drama tells the true story of Oskar Schindler, a German businessman who saves the lives of more than a thousand Jewish refugees. It is a haunting and powerful testament to the triumph of humanity and arguably Spielberg’s best film ever.

Missing You (Netflix original series)
Rosalind Eleazar stars as Kat Donovan, a detective who discovers her fiance (Ashley Walters) is on a dating site — 11 years after he disappeared. You might say she’s not much of a detective if it took her 11 years to find him, and on a dating site to boot. Well, I thought that, too, but the five-episode mystery/thriller series gets even more intriguing when you hear Kat is in charge of the missing persons department, that her father has been murdered, and her long-buried secrets are starting to surface. Whoa, Nellie. Whoa, Kat.
