Diamond Sports, which will soon emerge from a 21-month long bankruptcy reorganization, now has seven MLB teams under agreement to broadcast their games for the 2025 season. The RSN company just announced that it has come to terms with the Kansas City Royals for a one-year contract.

“Our renewed partnership with the Royals highlights our shared commitment to connecting as many fans as possible to the team, however they choose to watch,” Diamond CEO David Preschlack said in a press release. “We are confident that our evolving partnerships with Amazon and FanDuel, and combined linear and digital platforms will provide fans with exceptional value and an unparalleled viewing experience.”

“Our top priority has been and always will be reaching as many fans as possible,” said Royals Chairman and CEO John Sherman. “We want to be available to anyone who wants to watch our exciting team as the ownership group continues to invest in the progress we’re making on the field.”

The Diamond Sports/Royals channel, known as FanDuel Sports Network Kansas City, will continue to be available on cable and satellite as well as via a standalone streaming plan that can be purchased directly through the network.

As part of the new reorganization plan, Diamond Sports’ FanDuel Networks (formerly Bally Sports) will be the regional TV carrier of 28 MLB, NBA and NHL teams. In addition to the Royals, the MLB list includes the Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, Detroit Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and Los Angeles Angels.

The new Diamond Sports lineup would seem to end MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred’s plan to sell a bundle of regional sports rights to a network such as ESPN although the league could sell a smaller package of teams no longer carried by DS including the Padres, Diamondbacks, Guardians, Twins and Brewers. However, the smaller plan would likely be considerably less lucrative for MLB.

Diamond Sports earlier this year renegotiated deals with the 21 NBA and NHL teams.

Diamond Sports announced last month that its FanDuel broadcasts will soon be available in market on Amazon’s Prime Video as an add-on subscription. The companies have yet to announce pricing details.
