DIRECTV today officially launched a free ad-supported streaming service called MyFreeDIRECTV. The lineup, which is available to both DIRECTV subscribers and non-DIRECTV consumers, consists of more than 70 live channels and on-demand programming. You can watch the free channels by setting up a DIRECTV account at DIRECTV.com and then going to the DIRECTV Stream app or this web page.
While the current channel total pales in comparison to other free streaming services (Sling TV’s Freesteam, Tubi, Pluto TV, The Roku Channel, etc.) which have hundreds of channels, DIRECTV said more channels are coming. The TV provider has steadily added free channels to its two streaming services over the last several months.
With MyFreeDIRECTV, the TV provider hopes to generate significant advertising revenue as well as attract consumers who might subscribe after watching the free channels. The service will be accessible nationwide online, via mobile, and on select smart TVs and streaming devices.
The lineup of channels now includes Fight Network, Fail Army, MovieSphere, Court TV, Fox Weather, El Rebel Rey, Dog Whisperer, Women’s Sports Network, Skate, Surf, Snow, Origin Sports, T2, Surfer, Alien Nation, Anger Management Channel, The Bob Ross Channel, The Are We There Yet? Channel, Cold Case Files, Ebony TV, Fox Soul, Declassified Channel, Dove Channel, Power Nation, and Duck Dynasty, among others.
