Peacock Just Added 164 New Movies – Here’s the 3 Best

Peacock yesterday (September 1, 2024) added 164 new movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three best, in my humble opinion:

Get Out (2017)
Daniel Kaluuya stars as a young black man who learns some scary secrets about his white girlfriend (Allison Williams) and her family when he visits their home. The Jordan Peele-directed horror/satire became an instant classic for its insightful and suspenseful take on racial paranoia (from both sides here) and miscommunication. Be prepared to laugh, think and occasionally jump out of your seat.

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)
Let’s lighten things up a bit. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off has become the American cinema’s best coming-of-age comedy ever thanks to the perfect performance by Matthew Broderick as the wisecracking and charismatic Ferris. The film, which features Ferris playing hooky from school, serves up everything you want from a comedy and more. And let’s not forget the great supporting work from Alan Buck as Ferris’ put-upon pal. Fun film!

The Card Counter (2021)
The shrewd 2021 dramatic film stars Oscar Isaac as a professional gambler whose calculations take a turn when a young man seeking revenge enters his life. Paul Schrader, the writer of Taxi Driver and other intense urban dramas, directs this throwback to the 70s when movies put plot and characterization over all else. (Not coincidentally, Taxi Driver director Martin Scorsese is an executive producer of the film.)
