Netflix this week (May 5-11, 2024) plans to add 20 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three most interesting, in my humble opinion:

Roast of Tom Brady
The comedic roughing of the passer debuted last night live with comedians such as Kevin Hart, Nikki Glaser and Will Ferrell taking free shots at the former QB great. Former teammates including Drew Bledsoe and Julian Edelman also took part with the latter calling Brady, “Leonardo DiCaprio’s ex-girlfriend’s ex-husband.” Fun show. Debuts May 5.

30 for 30: Broke
If you think all pro athletes retire rich and comfortable, take in this outstanding ESPN documentary on the many players who have had to declare bankruptcy due to poor financial planning, and, sometimes, financial betrayal by close associates. Players interviewed include former MLB outfielder Cliff Floyd, ex-NFL wide receiver Andre Rison and former NFL QB Bernie Kosar. The doc is an important cautionary tale for pro athletes as well as anyone who flies a little too close to the Sun. Debuts May 6.

The Final: Attack on Wembley
On July 11, 2021, England reached the final of the Euro soccer championship, but the celebratory moment was crushed when thousands of drug-fueled and ticketless fans stormed the stadium, sending the event into a chaotic and violent scene. This doc examines how it happened and how it should have been prevented. Debuts May 8.
