TV Answer Man, I read your article on Amazon streaming Bally Sports. Do you know which MLB teams would be available and would they be free with Prime Video? — Nathan, Evanston, Illinois.

Nathan, Amazon has committed to investing $115 million in Diamond Sports, the owner of the Bally Sports regional sports networks. The deal has not been officially sealed as Diamond Sports is finishing up its bankruptcy reorganization plan. However, when the agreement is official, Amazon’s Prime Video is expected to offer the Bally Sports broadcasts of MLB, NHL and NBA games.

We don’t know if Amazon will include the games with a Prime membership. The company, however, does provide its New York Yankees broadcasts for free to Prime members in the Yankees’ market. So there’s a good chance it will do the same with the Bally Sports games.

When the Bally Sports games are added to Amazon, as of now, there will only be the broadcasts of five MLB teams: Miami Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers. Why? Because Diamond Sports only has the streaming rights to those MLB teams; six other MLB teams it carries on its Bally Sports cable/satellite channels have rejected Diamond Sports’ requests to stream their games as well.

Nathan, hope that helps. Happy viewing and stay safe!
