TV Answer Man, is YouTube TV ever going to let new customers get the genre plans? I want the sports plan!!! – Robbie, Fairfax, Virginia.

Robbie, YouTube TV announced on February 9 that it planned to launch less expensive genre plans within a week, including one for sports. The streamer said it would offer more than 10 genre plans before it was done. (The genre plans will provide fewer channels than YouTube TV’s $82.99 a month bundle and therefore will be less expensive.)

Until now, YouTube TV had restricted the plans to current customers who could access them through their Settings. But this morning, the streamer has added the Sports genre plan (and a few others) to its web site’s home page which means that new customers can now order it.

The Sports plan is normally $64.99 a month (compared to the YouTube TV base plan of $82.99 a month) but it’s now available for $54.99 a month for 12 months. By ordering now, you could save $120 over the year. (You could cancel at any time.)

The YouTube TV Sports Plan Has 34 Channels:
ABC
CBS
NBC
FOX
Big Ten Network
ACC Network
CBS Sports Network
Cozi
Dabl
ESPN
ESPNews
ESPN2
ESPNU
FS1
FS2
Golf Channel
NBC Sports
NBA TV
NFL Network
MyTV
PBS
PBTV
SEC Network
Start TV
T2
TBS
Telemundo
The CW
TNT
truTV
TUDN
Unimas
Univision
USA Network

There are a few notable omissions such as the MLB Network which YouTube TV lost a few years ago in a carriage fight.

The Sports genre plan also comes with Multiview, DVR features, six household accounts and three streams, and you can add packages such as 4K and the NFL Sunday Ticket. There is also a 10-day free trial.

YouTube TV now is also offering a Sports & News genre plan for $71.99 a month; an Entertainment plan for $54.99 a month; a Sports & Family plan for $71.99 a month; and a News & Family plan for $62.99 a month.

It’s unclear when YouTube TV will post more plans. To learn more about the YouTube TV genre packages, click here.

You didn’t answer the question, Phillip. You simply reiterated all the coming YouTube TV offerings mentioned back in early February which we already know.

With respect, the question pertained to the timeline for actual access to these new plans. I have the same question. We all know what’s coming. Question is when? Do you have unique insights? Thank you in advance.

Not everyone has this availability yet. I spoke with YTTV. They are rolling this out per their own speed. It cannot be universally affirmed that all customers have the ability to make the switch just yet. I am a longtime YTTV customer and voiced my frustration. I am not alone. We were supposed to get “an email notification,” but that has yet to arrive for some of us.
