When Will the Hulu App Go Out of Business?

TV Answer Man, what is the deal with Hulu? Will it go out of business this month or become part of Disney Plus? – Confused Hulu subscriber, town withheld.

I can understand your confusion. Disney said last year that Hulu would be folded into the Disney Plus app sometime in early 2026, most likely this month (February 2026). The plan was to include all Hulu programming under a tab in the Disney Plus menu. You would not be able to watch Hulu’s programming on a Hulu app.

However, Disney CEO Robert Iger yesterday reversed course, saying the Disney/Hulu integration could be delayed until the end of this year. The exec also said you can continue to subscribe separately to Hulu rather than having to get the service’s shows and movies via a Disney/Hulu bundle.

Iger did not explain why the company is moving the deadline for Hulu to be added to the Disney Plus app. (For clarification, Hulu is now included in the Disney Plus app if you get the bundle. But Disney wants to eventually eliminate the separate Hulu app entirely so the only way to watch Hulu would be through the Disney Plus app.)

The company believes that moving Hulu to the Disney Plus app will generate more viewers for both services. There will also be a small reduction in costs by having just one app for two services.

Finally, Disney still plans to keep the Hulu Live service separate, even when the Hulu Video on Demand service is added to the Disney Plus app.

I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
