Bears vs. Rams On Sunday: Why You Should Watch the Game On Peacock, Not NBC!

By Phillip Swann
The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!

TV Answer Man, I am a big Bears fan and I think we’re going all the way this year! My question is this: The game this Sunday will be on NBC and Peacock. Is there any difference between the two? Which one will you watch? – Jim, Evanston, Illinois.

Jim, that’s a great question. The Chicago Bears this Sunday (January 18, 2026) will host the Los Angeles Rams at Soldier Field in Chicago in a NFC divisional round playoff game. NBC and Peacock will both show the game which will start shortly after 6:30 p.m. ET.

So if you have both NBC and Peacock in your viewing lineup, which one should you watch? Does it really matter?

Oh yeah, it does. Peacock, the NBCUniversal-operated streaming service, offers a dramatically better picture than what you will see on your local NBC affiliate. At the very least, the Peacock telecast will be streamed in an ultra-realistic and vivid 1080p HD compared to NBC’s lesser 1080i HD.

I say, ‘very least,’ because for several weeks, Peacock has tagged its NFL games on its app as being in 4K. I’ve asked NBC Sports PR about that and they say it’s actually 1080p HD. But the images are so detailed and life-like, I have to tell you that I’m not so sure. It looks 4K to me. Whether it is or not, the picture will be far superior on Peacock.

So if you’re a Bears fan, or any fan, do watch the game on Peacock and not NBC. Your eyes will be glad that you did.

Jim, I hope that answers your question. Happy viewing and stay safe!
