Netflix, Amazon, HBO Max, Hulu Adding 11 New Releases Today: The 3 to Watch

The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!
Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Disney Plus, Peacock and Amazon Prime today (January 16, 2026) have added 11 new shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:
The Rip (2026)
Where to Watch: Netflix
What Kind of Movie: Police Drama
Who’s In It: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon (pictured above) play Miami cops whose investigative team finds $24 million in drug money stashed away in a safe house. The team soon splits over what to do with the ill gotten largesse, leading to deep divisions and much worse. Director Joe Carnahan says the film was inspired by a friend’s real-life experiences, and the two classic crime dramas, Heat and Serpico. If The Rip is half as good as those two movies, this will be ripping good fun.
Going Dutch – Season Two Premiere
What Kind of Show: Military Comedy
Where to Watch: Hulu
Who’s In It: Denis Leary, Kristen Johnston
Denis Leary stars as a U.S. army colonel who’s hired to bring order and discipline to a band of military outcasts in the Netherlands. It’s the perfect vehicle for Leary’s abrasive style of humor. Today’s episode, the season two premiere, focuses on the squad’s ineptness in playing laser tag. Kristen Johnston joins the cast as a high-ranking NATO officer.
Southland (Seasons one through five)
What Kind of Show: Police Drama
Where to Watch: Netflix
Who’s In It: Michael Cudlitz, Ben McKenzie, Regina King
It’s time to discover, or perhaps rediscover, this exceptional NBC police drama from a decade ago. Southland chronicles the lives of Los Angeles police officers on and off the job. The show, which was a critic’s darling, was written and produced by former hands at NYPD Blue and ER and it shows; Southland is gritty, realistic and extremely well acted. The terrific cast includes Michael Cudlitz, Ben McKenzie, Regina King and C. Thomas Howell. (Note: There are 33 episodes over five seasons.)
