Netflix, Apple TV, Disney Plus, Peacock Add 20 New Releases Today: The 3 to Watch

The TV Answer Man – Buy Me a Coffee!
Netflix, Disney Plus, Apple TV, HBO Max, Peacock and Paramount Plus today (January 14, 2026) have added 20 new TV shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:
Veronica Mars (Seasons 1-3)
Where to Watch: Netflix
What Kind of Show: Drama/Mystery
Who’s In It: Kristen Bell
Surveys have shown that some Netflix subscribers like to stream certain shows as background noise while they do errands around the house. Think Friends, The Office and so on. Well, Veronica Mars is your perfect ‘background noise’ show. The CW/UPN mystery, which first aired 20 years ago, stars a young Kristen Bell as a high school student who moonlights as a private investigator. It’s a cute series that doesn’t challenge your Gulliver too much so you can skip a few scenes from time to time without really missing much. Bell shows why she became one of Hollywood’s top stars, exhibiting a sweet appeal with a light comic touch.
Hijack (Season two premiere)
Where to Watch: Apple TV
What Kind of Show: Action/Drama
Who’s In It: Idris Elba
In season one, Idris Elba (The Wire, Luther) plays a master negotiator who must use his special skills to stay alive when the plane he’s on is hijacked by a somewhat dysfunctional team of terrorists. Hijack doesn’t rely on conventional storylines. Just when you think you understand why the plane has been hijacked, the show peels back another layer of the onion, revealing more details about the whys and whos. Elba, who exploded onto the scene with his portrayal of the drug dealer, Stringer Bell, in HBO’s The Wire, is the best he’s ever been since that show. Like the terrorists, Elba’s character has conflicting motivations which are slowly revealed throughout the seven-episode first season and the actor does a splendid job of keeping his cards close to the vest until each revelation is served. Great show, great performance. In the eight episode season two, which premieres today, Elba is on a Berlin underground train when it’s taken hostage. Once again, he must find a way to keep himself and everyone else alive. (Picture above of Elba from season one.)
Made In Korea, episode six (Season finale)
What Kind of Show: Spy Thriller
Where to Watch: Disney Plus
Who’s In It: Hyundai Bin, Jung Woo-Sung
Have you been watching this Korean spy thriller? The season one finale is today! The six-episode series stars Hyun Bin as Baek Ki-Tae, a corrupt intelligence officer who exploits his position to amass wealth. Jung Woo-Sung plays a young principled prosecutor who vows to bring Ki-Tae down even if it means risking his life and the lives of his loved ones. Made in Korea is a fast-paced show with plenty of action, moral dilemmas and moody atmospherics. Give it a try. (Season two is currently in production.)
