Dec. 31: Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, Hulu Adding 12 New Releases: The 3 to Watch

Netflix, Disney Plus, Hulu, HBO Max and Paramount Plus today (December 31, 2025) are adding 12 new TV shows and movies to their streaming lineups. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Stranger Things – Series Finale
Where to Watch: Netflix (8 p.m. ET)
Who’s In It: Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown
The final episode of the fifth and final season of the upside down world of those crazy kids debuts today at 8 p.m. ET. (The first four episodes of S5 premiered on November 26 and the next three dropped on December 25.) If you’re not familiar with Stranger Things by now, the show, which stars Winona Ryder, David Harbour and Millie Bobby Brown, follows a mysterious young girl (Brown) who opens a pathway between Earth and a hostile (very hostile) alternate dimension called the Upside Down. The series depicts a band of teenagers who assist the clueless adults in restoring order in our world. (Seasons one through four and the first seven first episodes of season five are now available on Netflix in case you are an ultra fast binger and want to catch up.)

Together (2025)
Where to Watch: Hulu
Who’s In It: Alison Brie, Dave Franco
Real-life husband and wife Dave Franco and Alison Brie star in this supernatural drama as an emotionally distant couple who suddenly begin to have their body parts stick together. Doctors have no answers for their dilemma so they turn to black magic and ancient philosophy. Together is a smart satire on the enigmatic mystery of successful romantic relationships with clever performances from the leads.

New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash (live stream only)
Where to Watch: Paramount Plus (With Premium Plan)
When to Watch: 8-10 p.m. ET, 10:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m, ET
And since it’s New Year’s Eve, we have to pick CBS/Paramount Plus’ countdown celebration to country music. New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash will include five hours of musical hoedown with such performers as Lainey Wilson, Jason Aldean and Bailey Zimmerman, among many others. Burt Kreischer and Hardy will host.
