Netflix next month (January 2026) plans to add 82 new TV shows and movies to its streaming lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

His & Hers
When to Watch: January 8, 2026
What Kind of Show: Mystery/Thriller
Who’s In It: Tessa Thompson, Jon Bernthal

Based on the Alice Feeney novel, Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal play a reporter and detective respectively who investigate a small town murder. The plot thickens when the two begin to suspect each other, which gets even messier when you discover they were once married to each other. “There are two sides to every story: his and hers, which means someone is always lying,” Netflix says coyly in its program description. If you’re a true crime fan, or just love a good mystery, this looks irresistible; all six episodes debut on January 8.

The Rip (2026)
When to Watch: January 16, 2026
What Kind of Movie: Police Drama
Who’s In It: Ben Affleck, Matt Damon

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon play Miami cops whose investigative team finds $24 million in drug money stashed away in a safe house. The team soon splits over what to do with the ill gotten largesse, leading to deep divisions and much worse. Director Joe Carnahan says the film was inspired by a friend’s real-life experiences, and the two classic crime dramas, Heat and Serpico. If The Rip is half as good as those two movies, this will be ripping good fun.

Bridgerton (Season 4, Part One)
When to Watch: January 29, 2026
What Kind of Show: Historical soap opera
Who’s In It: Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan

Season four of the sudsy British historical romance will debut on January 29 with the first four episodes; episodes five through eight are scheduled for February 26, 2026. Bridgerton is not my cup of tea, if you will, but season four will feature a new mysterious love interest (a maid in a silver mask) for Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). I’m told this will make Bridgerton’s female fans lose their tea. (Note: The first three seasons are now streaming on Netflix.)
