Every week, there are literally scores of new movies and TV shows added to streaming services such as Netflix, Apple TV, HBO Max, Amazon’s Prime Video and all the rest. It’s getting nearly impossible to keep up with all of them. But that’s why The TV Answer Man is here. We have selected four new streaming releases coming this week (November 2-8, 2025) that you should keep an eye out for. And here they are:

Pluribus – Apple TV
Release Date: Friday, November 7 (First two episodes)

Pluribus stars Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul) as the unhappiest person in the world in this much-anticipated sci-fi series from Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan. Set in Albuquerque, New Mexico (the location for Breaking Bad and Gilligan’s Better Call Saul), Seehorn (pictured above) plays a writer named Carol who somehow manages to avoid a global virus that transforms everyone into a happy and contented individual. Her non-conformity provokes concern among the populace and the president (Peter Bergman) who promises to find a ‘solution’ for her condition. Meanwhile, Carol aims to persuade the world that being ‘virus happy’ is not what it’s cracked up to be. The show clearly is influenced by the covid-era politics that often pitted neighbor vs. neighbor and it will be fascinating to see how Gilligan handles this. Both Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul delivered unflinching displays of individual human foibles and now he will take on the entire world. (The Apple will premiere the first two episodes of the nine-episode series on November 7 with single episodes added every Friday until the finale on December 28.)

Frankenstein (2025) – Netflix Original Film
Release Date: Friday, November 7
Netflix is bringing new life to the old boy with Oscar Isaac starring as Dr. Victor Frankenstein, the man who taunts the gods by transforming a decaying corpse to a living creature. The film, a remake of several earlier Frankenstein tales, including the original 1931 classic starring Boris Karloff, is directed by Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water, Nightmare Alley), a visionary filmmaker who should give this dusty ditty a fresh perspective worth viewing. The supporting cast includes Jacob Elordi (Elvis, Euphoria) as The Creature, Scream Queen Mia Goth (Pearl) as Dr. Frankenstein’s girlfriend, and Christoph Walz as the doc’s money man.

Death By Lighting – Netflix Original Series
Release Date: Thursday, November 6
Michael A. Shannon stars as the 20th president of the United States, James A. Garfield, who was assassinated by a disappointed office seeker, played by Matthew Macfadyen (Succession). The series, which chronicles the events of the Garfield presidency leading up to the assassination, is a different look for Netflix which tends to favor modern murder stories (particularly serial killers). But I’m looking forward to it (and hope that Netflix does a better job with the story than Apple did with Manhunt, the Lincoln-Booth conspiracy series.) Both Shannon and Macfadyen are intriguing actors and the supporting cast includes Betty Gilpin as Mrs. Garfield and Nick Offerman as vice president Chester Arthur.

Alex vs. ARod (HBO Original)
Release Date: Thursday, November 6 (part one; part two runs November 13 and part three, November 20.)

There are few contemporary sports figures more polarizing than Alex Rodriguez, the one-time baseball great whose use of performance enhancing drugs led to multiple suspensions and disgrace. However, despite his setbacks, ARod managed to survive and succeed, eventually becoming a highly-paid baseball analyst for Fox Sports, among other profitable ventures. This HBO original documentary, which includes candid interviews with Rodriguez, examines what makes ARod/Alex the controversial figure that he continues to be today.
