Amazon’s Prime Video to Add 144 New Shows & Movies In October 2025 – Here Are the 3 to Watch

Amazon’s Prime Video this month (October 2025) plans to add 144 new TV shows and movies to its lineup. Here are the three to watch, in my humble opinion:

Play Dirty (2025) – Amazon Original Film
Release Date: October 1
Mark Wahlberg (pictured above) stars as a world class thief who must take down his biggest heist yet while avoiding the New York mob. Directed by Shane Black (The Nice Guys, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang), the Amazon original action/thriller should deliver plenty of action and quips with Wahlberg in lead.

John Candy, I Like Me (2025)
Release Date: October 10
The Amazon original documentary, directed by Colin Hanks (Tom’s son), revisits the joyful but all too short life of comedian John Candy who starred in such classics as Planes, Trains & Automobiles, Stripes and (along side Tom Hanks) Splash. Candy, who also shined in the sketch show, SCTV, was a larger-than-life (in more ways than one) comic figure and his zany performances on and off the screen are chronicled here by a slew of his peers including Eugene Levy, Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Bill Murray and Steve Martin.

Thursday Night Football: 49ers at Rams
Release Date: Thursday, October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 (Kickoff at 8:15 p.m. ET; pregame coverage at 7 p.m. ET.)
Amazon this month has a packed lineup for Thursday Night Football including the October 2 (tonight!) matchup between the 3-1 San Francisco 49ers and the 3-1 Los Angeles Rams. Next week on October 9, the Eagles will play (and likely annihilate) the Giants; on October 16, Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers will play the Burrow-less Bengals; on October 23, the Chargers meet the Vikings; and on October 30, the Ravens visit the Dolphins.

Also note: Amazon on October 24 begins its debut year of broadcasting regular season NBA games with a doubleheader between the Knicks and Celtics and the Lakers and Timberwolves. See our article for more details.
